The Athletics Department of Alvin Community College encourages a healthy lifestyle for both the mind and body. The Fitness Center, where students can work out in a relaxed atmosphere, is open seven days a week during the fall and spring semesters. It has a gym, racquetball and tennis courts, weight training rooms, locker rooms and saunas, Non-varsity students who spend more time on academics can enjoy and still stay fit with recreational sports offered by the college like racquetball, tennis, jogging, soccer, table tennis, and many other sports activities, Student-athletes can obtain their athletic aspiration by focusing on the more demanding team sports of baseball and softball.

The varsity sports program of Alvin Community College includes baseball and softball. The college sports teams compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Mainly focused on the two NJCAA sports team, the college sets high standards in athlete selection and coaching staff. It is mandatory for the head coach to have an assistant to ensure high level performance.

Alvin Community College maintains a Softball Team and a Baseball Team that is otherwise known as Dolphins.
