Division II adds 8 new members, 5 start process

The Division II Membership Committee approved eight new full members who have completed the three-year transition period, bringing the division’s membership to 300. In addition, a total of 14 other institutions were accepted into the membership process or advanced along it. Four institutions were asked to redo years along the path for full Division II membership. Here is a summary of all the actions taken by the membership committee:

– Southern Nazarene University
– Trevecca Nazarene University
– Union University
– Young Harris College

Advanced to Year Three of Provisional Period
– Daemen College
– Lee University
– Lubbock Christian University
– Northwestern Oklahoma State University
– Oklahoma Christian University
– University of Virginia’s College at Wise

Advanced to Year Two of Provisional Period
– Mississippi College
– Rogers State University
– Spring Hill College

Accepted for Candidacy
– California State University, San Marcos
– Concordia University Irvine
– Concordia University Oregon
– Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
– Oklahoma Baptist University

Schools Not Advanced
– Fresno Pacific University (must repeat third year)
– Holy Names University (must repeat second year)
– Emmanuel College (Georgia) (must repeat first year)
– Southern Wesleyan University (must repeat first year)
– Cumberland University (application for candidacy not accepted)
– Georgetown College (application for candidacy not accepted)

There were eight applicants to start the process. Cumberland University and Georgetown College both confirmed their applications were denied. The third denial appears to be Westminster College in Utah.
