Complicated Path to Nevada Sidelines AJ West

The junior-college transfer, who has yet to make his Nevada debut, appears unlikely to get clearance to play for the Wolf Pack this season. West transferred to Nevada from Monroe College (Bronx, N.Y.) this season but the NCAA has ruled that he is not eligible to play this year, citing its transfer rules.
Murray mentions that part of the issue may be when West was playing prep school games. On the face of it, West’s case looks like a standard 4–2–4 transfer given his previous enrollment at Niagara. When he played prep school games would normally come up in a delayed enrollment case. But it could impact a transfer by calling into question the type of transfer he is (4–2–4, 2–4 qualifier, 2–4 nonqualifier, etc.). All the different junior college transfer types have different requirements to be eligible to play immediately at a new Division I school.
