Some of the most popular brands for soccer shoes are Adidas, Nike, Puma, Umbro, Diadora, Pantofola D’Oro, Fila, and Lotto, and Hummel, but there are also a number of other companies who produce soccer cleats as well. Along with cleats, shin guards are a vital aspect of the game of soccer. Shin guards made an appearance in the sport of soccer in the late 1800s. They were made from large pads to protect the front of the leg. For a while, shin guards were not required, so players often wore extremely small guards, or even took them out during games. Shin guards were found to be very important to the protection of a player’s legs because they distribute the impact of force across a larger surface area of the leg, causing less direct force to one area. Shin guards are made most often made with a harder outside shell and a softer, padded inside layer. While they provide great protection for mild trauma cases, they are not effective in all high-impact hits, and fractures or breaks are still possible.
