What is the SAT?

The SAT is the most widely used college admissions test in the United States. It is a standardized test developed by College Board and is used to assess a high school student’s readiness for college. The SAT test is meant to measure how well students can analyze and solve problems, and demonstrate literacy and writing skills needed to succeed in college. There are three 800 point sections of the SAT which includes Math, Writing, and Critical Reading, and scores can range from 600 to 2400.

The SAT is an important part of the college admissions process and many schools require that you have taken the SAT and/or the ACT. What you score on these tests can affect your ability for admissions so it is critical that you prepare for the test as much as you can. You can take the exam as many times as you need to, and your best scores for each section will be used to calculate your overall score.

The NCAA Eligibility Center uses a sliding scale with your GPA to determine what you need to earn on the exam to be eligible to compete in college sports.
