Charleston Southern University

Charleston Southern University was founded in 1964 as an independent comprehensive college situated near historic city of Charleston and the beautiful beaches of the South Carolina coastline.

 

 

Charleston Southern University is one of South Carolina's biggest accredited, independent universities, enrolling approximately Three-thousand students. Affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention, the university's mission is promoting academic excellence in a Christian environment to all denominations.

The University focuses its educational programs on 5 life preparation concepts: values and ethics, leadership, communication, service and wellness.

Situated on Three hundred acres, formerly the site of a indigo and  rice plantation, CSU is in the center of the modern growth patterns of the Charleston metropolitan area. Mild winters and long summers allow many opportunities for outdoor recreation in a city which is famous for its plantations and gardens, miles of wide sandy beaches and major fine arts events, including the Spoleto Festival USA.

The college is conveniently located just off of Interstate 26 at Exit 205. Go east on Highway 78 when exiting I-26. Turn left onto the campus at the stoplight and enter the main gates of the university.

Charleston Southern University is a member of the National Collegiate athletic association Division I and offers the following varsity sports: Baseball, Men's basketball, Women's Basketball, Men's cross Country, Women's Cross Country, Football, Men's Golf, Women's Golf, Women's soccer, Softball, Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis, Men's Track & Field, Women's Track & Field and Volleyball.
